PBS announced today that a new math series with a female lead, Peg + Cat, will premiere in the fall. At the summer 2012 TCA, PBS president Paula Kerger had spoken about PBS’ plan to develop a kids’ math series focusing on a girl character to spur young girls to become more enthusiastic about mathematics. In each episode, Peg and Cat encounter a problem that will call on them to use math and problem-solving skills. The series comes from The Fred Rogers Company and co-creators Billy Aronson and Jennifer Oxley.
