Universal Television is locking up Mike Schur.

The Parks and Recreation co-creator/showrunner has inked new a two-year overall deal to remain with the studio, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Under the pact, he'll continue to develop projects for Universal Television and remain at the helm of the NBC Thursday night comedy, which returns Sept. 20 for its fifth season.

Schur has proven a valuable asset to the studio. The multiple Emmy winning writer-producer who co-created Parks started his career and won his first Emmy for his contributions to Saturday Night Live, where during his six-season stint he was a producer and head writer on the popular "Weekend Update" segment.

"Mike is the consummate showrunner -- he is an amazing writer, has great leadership ability, strong producing skills, and he’s an all-around distinct creator. We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Mike and are excited about the buzz-worthy projects Mike has in development," Universal Television exec vp Bela Bajaria said.

He collected the WGA Award for best episodic comedy in 2007 for an episode of The Office, where he started as a writer and rose through the ranks to co-executive producer, sharing in the series' Emmy for outstanding comedy series. He remained with The Office for four seasons before segueing full time to Parks.

Schur already seems to have gotten a jump on the pact and is shopping a comedy to broadcast networks with fellow Parks scribe Dan Goor

Schur's first overall deal was with the studio, a rich pact he signed in 2008. He's repped by UTA, 3 Arts and Hansen Jacobson.
