Oh No! The Cost of Netflix Is Going Up
It's about to get more expensive to stream.
On Thursday, Netflix changed the price of its mid-tier subscription to $9.99 a month... a staggering $1 price increase. If you are already a Netflix subscriber (and if not, who are you?), your cost will stay at $8.99 a month for a grace period of one year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Netflix has 65 million subscribers worldwide. THR reports the company will use the price increase to help pay for their original programming, including shows like Orange is the New Black and House of Cards.

Netflix has three pricing tiers: Basic, Standard, and Premium. Basic is $7.99 a month and does not include HD capabilities or let you stream from your account on more than one device at a time. Standard, the one that's going to be $9.99 a month, can stream in HD and be watched on two devices at once. The Premium tier is $11.99 a month and streams in Ultra HD when available, and you can watch it on up to four screens.
