There have been a lot of different takes on Superman over the years, but this might be the most ridiculous one yet.

In the late '90s, Tim Burton was working on a Superman movie that was going to star Nicolas Cage, aka the man who named his son Kal-El. Sadly, Superman Lives never came to fruition, but we have clearly racked up a good deal of karma points because The Los Angeles Times has shared some test footage of Cage -- doing stretches, no less -- in the impossibly tight, blindingly shiny Superman suit for the film, complete with sculpted-on abs and pecs.

Once you see this video, you will never look at Superman the same. So prepare yourselves.

The footage is part of the upcoming documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?, which will be available on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD on July 9.

Check out the insane test footage here and watch a trailer for the documentary below.
