Nick Cannon Catches Det. Rosa Diaz's Eye on ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ (Exclusive Video)
Just what Nick Cannon needed: Another job.
The busy multi-hyphenate kicks off a story arc on Fox's “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” Sunday, and TheWrap has the exclusive video of his character's introduction to the precinct. Cannon plays Captain Raymond Holt's (Andre Braugher) nephew, Marcus, on the current season of last year's Golden Globe-winning TV comedy.
The duo makes for classic comedy comedy foils — a la Will Smith and James Avery from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” a comparison that Cannon agreed with.
“Captain Holt is no-nonsense and always by the book, and I'm a little more lenient,” Cannon told TheWrap. “It's a good balance.”

Cannon has shot several additional episodes for the Fox sitcom and sounds right at home as a recurring part of one of TV's best ensembles.
“It's a phenomenal cast,” the self-proclaimed “entrepre-tainer” said. “Everyone on the show is hysterical. They're like next-level funny.”
The cast of “Brooklyn” was nominated for a SAG ensemble award on Wednesday, but the show was snubbed by the Golden Globes on Thursday.

In the exclusive footage, we learn that Marcus is new in town, staying with his uncle, 31-years-old and super-perceptive. He is also now the apple of Det. Rosa Diaz's (Stephanie Beatriz) eye, something not unnoticed by Gina (Chelsea Peretti).
The normally cold cop goes so far as to say “Bye” to Marcus when he exits, prompting Gina to comment at Diaz: “Holy Moses. ‘Bye?’ For you that's basically walking up to him and jamming your tongue down his throat.”
When Holt objects to that kind of talk, Gina clarifies: “Rosa wants to bone your nephew.”
We'll see if they “bone,” but there's definitely something romantic beginning Sunday, which should lend to a few laughs given Diaz's icy demeanor.
“It's funny to breakdown somebody who's a hard ass on the show,” Cannon concluded.
