Nancy Drew Series in Development at CBS — Who Would You Cast?
Will the fourth time be the charm for a Nancy Drew TV series?
CBS is developing a drama based on the classic Carolyn Keene novels, with plans to put a contemporary spin on the beloved detective.

The project will reportedly focus on a thirtysomething Nancy Drew, who is now a detective for the NYPD where she solves crimes using her sharp observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world. Joan Rater and Tony Phelan (Grey’s Anatomy) will co-write and executive-produce with Dan Jinks.
(No word on whether an old clock, a mysterious mannequin or a brass-bound trunk will play into the plot.)
In addition to multiple film adaptations, Nancy Drew has been brought to the small screen three times: The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, which ran from 1977 to 1979; the one-and-done 1995 Nancy Drew series; and the 2002 TV movie (originally intended as a series), which starred Maggie Lawson as the amateur sleuth.
