Impact Artist Opens Film & TV Division

EXCLUSIVE: Impact Artist Management has hung up a new shingle in the movie and television business. Led by Ed Gerrard and Peter Himberger, the veteran music management company today announced the formation of Impact Artist Productions to produce films and TV series. “After music supervising for many years and working closely with some of the industry’s most revered directors, making the transition to producing both film and television is a natural progression for Impact. We are also thrilled to launch our production division with several projects that highlight arts and culture,” said Gerrard in a statement Friday. “We are excited to take our successful experience in the music industry and parlay that into our passion for film. We are pleased to now have our own banner under which to do that,” added Himberger.

As well as working with the likes of Dr. John, Gipsy Kings, Cassandra Wilson, and Teddy Pendergrass, the company has supervised music on more than 30 films including Wes Craven’s Scream franchise and Blair Witch II and New York, I Love You. Projects in development for the new production company include New Orleans, Je T’aime, the next film in producer Emmanuel Benbihy’s Cities of Love series. Gerrard and Himberger will produce the film through Impact Artist Productions in partnership with Treme producer/writer Eric Overmyer. Impact will also be producing the Smithsonian music documentary series, Rocking The Opera House with filmmaker Lawrence Cumbo. Shot in Shepherdstown, WV at the renowned 103-year-old Opera House, the series is scheduled to debut on the Smithsonian Channel in late 2013. Impact has also acquired the rights to the life and work of sculptor Harvey Fite, whose environmental landscape sculpture Opus 40 was built solely over a 40-year period from the Thirties to the Seventies.
