MTV Slates ‘Catfish’ For June 25 in Primetime Lineup

MTV’s “Catfish: The TV Show” will return for a second season on June 25, this time at 10 p.m. on the cabler’s Tuesday night lineup.

Docuseries, which focuses on young adults in internet relationships who finally meet in real life, previously occupied MTV’s Mondays at 11 p.m. timeslot, slated immediately after solid lead-in “Teen Mom 2.”

First season of “Catfish” averaged 2.4 million viewers, even though its latenight timeslot may have barred its targetted demo — teens and young adults — from tuning in to live-view the program. Nev Schulman and Max Joseph guide the series on-cam.

Primetime placement shows MTV’s investment in the program, which is based on feature-length doc “Catfish.” The second season of “Catfish” will span 16 episodes.

MTV will tease the show’s return with “Hooked on Catfish: The Road to Season Two,” slated for June 17. Cabler will also marathon the entire first season on June 23.

“Catfish” is produced by RelativityREAL and Catfish Picture Company.
