Morrissey cancels 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' appearance over 'Duck Dynasty'

Duck this!

Singer Morrissey canceled a performance on Tuesday night's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" after finding out the cast of A&E's "Duck Dynasty" were also booked as guests on the show.

The former Smiths frontman is an ardent animals rights activist and laid down an ultimatum: him or "Duck Dynasty."

"As far as my reputation is concerned, I can't take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers," Morrissey said in a statement. "If Jimmy cannot dump 'Duck Dynasty' then we must step away."

The reality show follows the Robertson family, whose business, Duck Commander, sells products used by hunters such as duck calls and decoys. Neither A&E nor the Robertsons have released any comment.

This was supposed to be Morrissey's first stop on his U.S. tour after suffering from a bleeding ulcer. He previously had rescheduled some dates in late 2012 when his mother fell ill.

The singer is well-known for taking a stand for his causes. Recently, he announced that the Stapes Center would go all-vegetarian for his March 1 concert; the arena backtracked slightly, saying they would add more vegetarian options to its concession menu that evening.

As for "Jimmy Kimmel Live," the show will host the band Churchill instead.
