‘Modern Family’ Producer Jeff Richman Inks Overall Deal with 20th Century Fox TV

EXCLUSIVE: Emmy-winning Modern Family writer-producer Jeff Richman has signed a three-year overall deal with the studio behind the hit ABC comedy, 20th Century Fox TV. Under the rich pact, the veteran comedy writer, who has served as a co-executive producer on Modern Family for the past two years, will be upped to executive producer on the Emmy-winning series created/executive produced by Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd. “Steve and Chris have an enormous respect for Jeff who is a great member of the team and contributes a lot,” 20th TV chairman Dana Walden said. “Jeff is a really talented writer and a fantastic guy who is beloved.”

The pact includes a development component, though Modern Family is expected to be Richman’s priority in the immediate future. Richman, who has spent the better part of the last decade working on 20th TV shows, has a long history with Lloyd. The two first worked together on Wings and then spent years on Frasier. Richman also served as a co-executive producer on Levitan and Lloyd’s first series together, Fox/20th TV’s Back To You, before re-joining them at the beginning of Season 2 of Modern Family. Richman and Levitan won an Emmy and a WGA Award for writing Modern Family‘s Season 2 episode “Caught In The Act”. UTA-repped Richman also shared in Modern Family‘s best comedy series win last year and Frasier‘s in 1998.
