‘Modern Family’ Drives USA Network Campaign with Feeding America
USA is mounting a major fundraising and volunteer support effort for the anti-hunger org that facilities a network of more than 200 food banks around the country.
Starting today through mid-December, USA will run an elaborate on-air PSA campaign profiling real American families and raising awareness of hunger concerns throughout the U.S. The on-air spots will direct viewers to a “Modern Family” themed websites where users will be encouraged to “like” a local food bank on Facebook, commit to volunteering at a facility and donate at least $1 to Feed America. USA will match the donations up to $30,000.
The campaign’s kickoff coincides with the USA-hosted ” ‘Modern Family’ Fan Appreciation Day” event set for today at Westwood Village Theaters. The sesh for 1,000 contest winners will feature a live table read with the cast members and a Q&A session including series creators Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd.
“Forty-nine million Americans lack the means to get enough nutritious food on a regularbasis. This ‘Modern Family’ event is a great platform to help shed light on this enormous problem and encourage people to join Feeding America’s efforts to address it,” said Toby Graff, senior VP of public affairs for USA Network.
Added Leah Ray, veep of corporate partnerships for Feeding America: “Given that one in five children faces hunger in our country, receiving support from everyday modern families can help provide food to families in need.”
The table read and panel will be streamed live at mofynation.com.
“Modern Family” reruns bowed last month on USA. The cabler aims to use its high-priced off-network acquisition to help launch a block of original comedy series next year.
