Mike Schur/Dan Goor Cop Comedy Starring Andy Samberg Gets Pilot Order At Fox

Fox Picks Up Andy Samberg & Chris Meloni Comedies, ‘Us & Them’ And ‘Enlisted’, Almost Doubles New Series Volume

Fox has handed its first pilot order this season to a cop comedy starring Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg. Written by the Parks And Recreation duo of co-creator/exec producer/showrunner Mike Schur and exec producer Dan Goor, the untitled project is about a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the very edge of New York City, with Samberg playing the lead detective. Universal TV, where Schur is under an overall deal, is producing.

The Schur/Goor project had been one of Fox’s strongest pilot pickup contenders. It already carried one of the largest penalties at the network this season after landing at Fox in August with a rich pilot production commitment following a fierce bidding war. Then in October, Samberg, hot off his seven-year stint on SNL, came on board to play the lead. And last month, the Schur/Goor comedy was one of a handful of projects given permission to hire a casting director and start casting. The project is executive produced by Schur, Goor and 3 Arts’ David Miner, with Samberg producing.

This marks the third consecutive year that Fox has picked up a pilot from NBC’s sibling studio following medical drama Weekends At Bellevue in 2011 and The Mindy Project last year. Schur, Goor and Samberg are repped by UTA. Samberg is managed by Mosaic, Schur by 3 Arts.
