Michael Douglas on Kissing Matt Damon, Living With Son's Prison Sentence
Michael Douglas is making the glittery-caped rounds, promoting the forthcoming Liberace biopic "Behind the Candelabra" and dishing on everything from smooching Matt Damon to his troubled son, Cameron.
"Once you get that first kiss in, you are comfortable. Matt and I didn't rehearse the love scenes," Douglas tells New York magazine.
Damon plays Scott Thorson, Liberace's drug-addled young lover, who underwent several plastic surgeries to resemble the showman.

"The hardest thing about sex scenes is that everybody is a judge. I don't know the last time you murdered somebody or blew anyone's brains out, but everyone has had sex and probably this morning," Douglas surmises.
"Which means everyone has an opinion on how it should be done."
Frequent Damon collaborator Steven Soderbergh directed the picture for HBO, which puts Douglas's name back above the title after a cancer battle and some family struggles.

"When I was ill, I mostly lay on that couch … I did [miss working], but I was too weak to miss much of anything. I was stage four, and there is no stage five," he said.
And, of course, he was also dealing with the crises his son, 34-year-old Cameron, was undergoing; Cameron was convicted for narcotics distribution and recently learned he'll have to serve an almost ten-year sentence after he was caught with drugs in prison.

"I have gone from being a very disappointed but loving father who felt his son got what was due him to realizing that Lady Justice's blindfold is really slipping," he said.
"I'm not defending Cameron as a drug dealer or drug addict, but I believe, because of his last name, he's been made an example."
Cameron eyes release in 2018.
