The talk show cohost/actress revealed via a photo posted to Twitter that she will appear in the hour-long Season 9 opener, in scenes with Jason Segel. UPDATE: It has since been announced that Shepherd will in fact recur during the show’s swan song.

As previously scooped by TVLine’s Ask Ausiello column, the season premiere, titled “The Locket,” was casting the role of Camille, an African-American or Latina female who is seated next to Marshall on a flight from Minnesota to NYC. The character becomes so annoyed with Marshal’s erratic behavior that a confrontation ensues and they are both escorted off the plane prior to take-off.

Well, Sherri = Camille, who is now named Daphne.

“We’re all extremely excited to have Sherri Shepherd joining HIMYM for an arc in Season 9!” series co-creator Craig Thomas said in a statement. “She is hilarious and delightful and perfect for this part — we couldn’t be more thrilled!”
