First comes love, then comes, marriage, then comes... well, what? Bravo has all the answers with Newlyweds: The First Year (premiering Monday at 10/9c). The eight-episode docu-reality show chronicles four couples for 365 days. From the big wedding day to their first anniversary, every behind-the-scenes milestone and lovers quarrel is caught on camera. TV Guide Magazine caught up with the spouses, and they kiss and tell all. Here are their fairytales — and they are not your typical happily-ever-after.
Tarz Ludwigsen and Tina Sugandh
Wedding date: Dec. 3, 2011
Husband: president/co-founder of start-up web company; former model
Wife: Indian international pop star
TV Guide Magazine: What is your favorite wedding memory?
Tarz: I'd honestly say the reception. But if I had to choose a second, I'd say when our dog, Loki, followed us as we walked our seven rounds around the ceremonial fire, which in a Hindu wedding represents seven lifelong promises. So basically all three of us got married that day.
TV Guide Magazine: Where was your honeymoon?
Tina: Tarz had an amazing honeymoon idea. Instead of sitting on a beach somewhere, eating and boozing it up every day, he thought of spreading out our honeymoon over the entire first year by doing one crazy thing every month. You definitely see some of our crazy honeymoon adventures on the show. For one of them, you may see a little bit more than you want to see — that's all I'm saying!
TV Guide Magazine: What is one thing about your spouse that will surprise viewers?
Tina: [Tarz] was on a few really big TV shows and one huge soap opera back in the day. And he had some underwear modeling gigs. I now have those underwear pictures as blackmail, in case he ever ticks me off.
Tarz: Tina is incredibly bright. She's got an honors biology degree from Rutgers and got into an accelerated medical program, at the same time she got a record deal. She's seriously talented — she plays like 90 instruments.
Jeff Pedersen and Blair Late
Wedding date: Domestic Partnership: Dec. 30 2011; Ceremony: April 28, 2012
Husband, Jeff: federal investigator
Husband, Blair: entertainment reporter; former European pop star
TV Guide Magazine: How long was your engagement?
Blair: Four months after we initially met, I moved in. Ten months after we had met, Jeff proposed to me. One year after that, we got hitched!
Jeff: Technically, Blair moved in a couple of weeks after we met. He just happened to get rid of his actual apartment four months later!
TV Guide Magazine: What has been the biggest struggle of your marriage?
Blair: There are three defining struggles that Jeff and I dealt with on our first year of marriage. Finances, sex and personality clashes. The rest you'll have to wait and see!
TV Guide Magazine: What is the best part about your marriage?
Blair: Our humor and zeal for life. With or without the cameras, we have an electric, laugh-out-loud chemistry.
Jeff: No matter what our differences may be, in the end, our love conquers all and it truly shows.
TV Guide Magazine: What is one thing about your spouse that viewers will be surprised to know?
Blair: Viewers will be surprised to know how masculine and "manly" Jeff can be. He is seriously the handiest man I have ever met, and could give Ty Pennington a run for his money!
