Maura Tierney To Recur On ‘The Good Wife’

Maura Tierney is reuniting with fellow ER alumna Julainna Margulies, joining the cast of Margulies’ praised CBS drama The Good Wife in a recurring role. On the legal drama set in the Windy City, Tierney will play a self-made millionaire who has become the doyenne of Chicago Democratic politics.

Tierney joined NBC’s long-running medical drama ER one-third of the way into Season 6, with her character Nurse Abby Lockhart introduced to fill the void of the pending departure of Marguiles’ Nurse Carol Hathaway. Marguiles, ER‘s original female lead, left the series at the end of that season, while Tierney’s character quickly became a central one during the second half of ER‘s run and earned Tierney an Emmy nomination. Following her nine-year stint on ER, Tierney recurred on FX’s Rescue Me and guest starred on the NBC comedy The Office. She just signed with UTA and is managed by Untitled.
