‘MacGyver’ Reboot in the Works at CBS With Director James Wan

The revival trend continues, with “MacGyver” the latest nostalgia fare to be rebooted for modern audiences.

CBS is developing a reimagining of the television series of the same name, following a 20-something MacGyver as he gets recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.

Richard Dean Anderson played the title character for seven seasons on the original ABC drama series.

James Wan is directing the CBS Studios project, with R. Scott Gemmill writing. Both are executive producers, along with Michael Clear and Henry Winkler.

The original “MacGyver” is part of the CBS TV Studios’ library and both network and studio are very high on bringing it back.
