Little People, Big World's Amy & Matt Roloff Talk Biggest Misconceptions & Making Their Marriage Last
'Little People, Big World's' Amy & Matt Roloff stop by Access Hollywood Live on November 8, 2012 -- Access Hollywood
After giving the world a glimpse into their lives for six years, "Little People, Big World" stars Amy and Matt Roloff feel they've helped others gain a greater understanding of the little people community and also dispelled some misconceptions along the way.
The reality TV stars stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Thursday, where they told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover that some people had "magical" ideas about smaller statured people and others were just fearful of them.
"People believed little people had magical powers," Matt explained.
The Roloff patriarch used the misconception as a way to help educate others.
"I'd go into grade schools and ask kids, 'Do you believe little people have magical powers?' And most of them would go, 'Yeah,'" he told Billy and Kit. "And then we'd talk to them about it."
Beyond notions of magic, Amy explained that she encountered extreme fright from people due to her size.
"People were afraid [of us,]" she said. "We had a lot e-mails [from] people who were really afraid of other little people... and through our show they're like, 'Man, you really opened that up. I'm okay with it now.'"
The couple, who is embarking on a new journey as they open up their family farm to host weddings on their new TLC series, also shared the secret to their marriage of 25 years.
"[We] stay out of each other's way," Matt said.
"And give [each other] our own space... I'm simple, he's drama, we balance," Amy said.
"Amy can be extremely mad at me one second and the next second, it's like nothing ever happened. So, she holds no grudges. There's no pouting that goes on," Matt said of his wife. "I can just do something and she can be super mad, slam on the door and the next minute it's like, 'What do you want for dinner?'"
"Little People, Big World: Wedding Farm" premieres on November 13 at 9/8c on TLC.
