Letter From the (Outgoing) Editor: A Heartfelt Goodbye

To all my friends at TV.com, including your aunt who made a million dollars and bought an awesome new car just by working a few hours on the laptop...

Hello and happy Friday from your friendly neighborhood managing editor! Also, blergh, I don't really know how to begin, so I'm just gonna come out and say it: As those savvy listeners who've made it to the end of this week's TV.com podcast already know, my time at the site is coming to a close: Monday, April 27, 2015 will be my last day. After nearly six years here, I am moving on to something new—namely, Vox.com, where I have accepted the position of deputy culture editor (I'm still waiting to hear on whether they'll let me wear a cool star badge like Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens). I'm looking forward to the new beginning! But I'm also bummed to have to say goodbye.

That's why, before I go, I wanted to also say thank you to every TV.com staffer, reader, and commenter who's been part of the site during my tenure here. I've learned so much about television. I've had so many great conversations and debates about television. And somehow, I've probably spent more time watching television than doing either of those other two things. But most importantly, I've made some really great friends, both on-staff and off, online and analog, and I'm extremely proud of everything the TV.com community has come to be.

In short, I love you all and I will miss you very much. I'll try to swing by the comments now and then to see what y'all are chatting about, because I'm sure Tim and Kaitlin and Cory and Noel and MaryAnn and Price and Lily and Nick and Ryan and Andy and everyone else who contributes to TV.com will continue to do great things. And while I've never stepped foot in a mineshaft—I don't think mineshafts have televisions or the internet or Netflix, which sounds awful?—this somehow seems like an appropriate sign-off:

Thank you all for reading and being so great all these years!

Until next time,

Jen
