Jessica Lange, Gabriel Byrne, John Gallagher Jr. to Star on Broadway in ‘Long Day’s Journey Into Night’
Jessica Lange, Gabriel Byrne and John Gallagher Jr. are returning to Broadway to star in “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” by playwright Eugene O’Neill, Roundabout Theatre Company and American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy announced on Tuesday.
The performance will mark the fifth Broadway production in Roundabout’s 50th Anniversary season.
“Long Day’s Journey Into Night” is about an ordinary summer’s day with extraordinary consequences: It’s the story of the Tyrone family attempting to unearth and conceal a lifetime of secrets.

“AHS” alum Lange will play Mary Tyrone, reprising her Olivier Award-nominated West End performance from 2000. Lange is also a two-time Academy Award winner, five-time Golden Globe winner, and three-time Emmy and SAG winner.
Golden Globe winner and actor Gabriel Byrne is set to play Mary’s wife James. He’s also a Broadway veteran, last appearing on stage in Roundabout’s production of O’Neill’s “A Touch of the Poet” in 2005.

Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr., known for his role in “The Newsroom,” will play their son Edmond. The actor returns to Broadway following “Jerusalem” (2011) and “Spring Awakening” (2006).
Murphy has been busy with the creation of FX’s “American Crime Story” and Fox’s “Scream Queens.” He was also the producer of “Glee” and “Nip/Tuck.”

Directed by Jonathan Kent, “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” will begin preview performances Mar. 31 of next year and open officially on Broadway Apr. 19 at the American Airlines Theatre.
