Jenny McCarthy in Talks to Co-Host ‘The View’

Jenny McCarthy may be the latest femme to take a seat at “The View’s” table.

The model, thesp and TV host is in serious talks to take current co-host Joy Behar’s spot on “The View” once Behar leaves the show in August, according to a report from Us Weekly. Sources confirmed to Variety that talks are indeed under way for McCarthy to nab the chair.

Behar announced in March that she planned to ankle the daytime talkshow after 16 years on the program. Rumors spread in March that Elizabeth Hasselbeck would leave “The View” at the end of the season, as well.

By May, original co-host Barbara Walters confirmed she’ll be stepping down from hosting duties on the “The View,” though she will retain her exec producer credit.

McCarthy initially nixed rumors that she was in talks for a spot on “The View,” citing commitment to her VH1 yakker “The Jenny McCarthy Show,” which was renewed for an additional seven episodes in the spring. Her talkshow, however, has not been a breakout success, though it has garnered decent ratings in its Friday night timeslot.

McCarthy has guest co-hosted on “The View,” allowing producers to give her a trial run and test her chemistry with the show’s tone and deskmates. McCarthy’s vocal, activist nature (most notably when it comes to autism) may also factor in to her being an appealing co-host for the veteran daytime skein.
