International Emmy Kids Awards: Winners Announced
The TV programs that entertain children worldwide were honored Friday at the first International Emmy Kids Awards. Presented by the The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, prizes went to programs from Argentina, Japan, Norway and the United Kingdom. Winners included:
Junior High School Diaries: Harmony of Two, (Kids: Series); Energy Survival, (Kids: Non-Scripted Entertainment); El Jardín de Clarilú, (Kids: Pre-School); Newsround-My Autism and Me, (Kids: Factual); The Amazing World of Gumball, (Kids: Animation) andLost Christmas, (Kids: TV-Movie/Mini-Series).
“With this new event solely dedicated to kids programming, the International Academy is proud to be the premiere global platform for excellence in children’s television,” said Academy President and CEO Bruce L. Paisner. “We congratulate tonight’s winners for their outstanding achievements.”
The inaugural event was held at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City. Presenters included British comic Eddie Izzard and Canadian actress Vanessa Morgan. Other handing out awards included Danish kids television hosts Ylva Hallen and Jakob Stegelmann; The New York City Children’s Chorus; FDNY firefighter Daniel Glover and Sam Moran of the Australian children’s band the Wiggles.
