‘Impractical Jokers’ Renewed for Season 5 by TruTV

TruTV has given a fifth season to “Impractical Jokers,” its hidden-camera reality series that features the four-member comedy troupe the Tenderloins as they run amuck and play pranks around New York City.

The cast, who go by their first names or nicknames Sal, Joe, Murr and Q, gave word of the 26-episode fifth season at New York Comic Con. The news comes a little more than a month after the airing of the show’s 100th episode, a live event hosted by Howie Mandel that featured a highwire walk at South Street Seaport.

“Even after 100 episodes and the success of the Live Punishment Special, it’s clear that Joe, Sal, Murr and Q have many more surprises up their sleeves,” said Chris Linn, truTV’s president and head of programming. “We are thrilled to move forward with another season of hilarious challenges and unexpected punishments.”

This renewal comes during a big week for TruTV. Tonight, the Turner-owned channel debuts a new season of Billy Eichner’s “Funny or Die’s Billy on the Street,” which moved to TruTV from Fuse. TruTV also recently announced it was ordering more episodes of its David Spade comedy “Fameless.”
