IFC Orders ‘Garfunkel & Oates,’ Spike Renews ‘Ink Masters,’ ‘Tattoo Nightmares’
On a busy morning for cable programming news, IFC is going ahead with new series “Garfunkel & Oates” for 2014, among other projects, and Spike TV announced renewals for two unscripted series.
IFC has greenlit original series “Garfunkel & Oates” for their 2014 line-up, featuring comedy-folk duo Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci. The series is based on their lives as performers and will be exec produced by Lindhome, Micucci and Jonathan Stern (Adult Swim’s “Childrens Hospital”).
The cabler also ordered a pilot of “American Storage,” based on a short film of the same name, which follows the friendship of a storage facility employee and a man who lives in one of the empty units. Additionally, IFC entered a first-look deal with the television division of podcast network Earwolf and is developing a comedy project with Rolin Jones.
At Spike, the network inked deals with “Ink Master” and “Tattoo Nightmares,” two originals series that helped bolster its highest rated quarter in four years.
“Ink Master,” a competition series hosted by Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro and produced by Original Media, will return in 2014 with 13 hour-long episodes for its fourth season. “Tattoo Nightmares,” produced by 495 Productions, will also return next year for 26 new episodes.
