Former American Idol and The Voice contestant Frenchie Davis has come out as a lesbian.

In an interview with the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Davis opens up about her relationship with her girlfriend, with whom she thinks she'll spend the rest of her life. "I wasn't out before the relationship, but I wasn't in," Davis says. "I dated men and women, though lesbians weren't feeling the bisexual thing. Now I'm in love with a woman I think I can be with forever."

Davis also talks about her love of the gay community — specifically the men. "The gay community is my most loyal fan base... I love the gay boys. They have that awesome, masculine energy, but there's also something else going on as well."

The 33-year-old singer with a booming voice was considered a front-runner on the second season of American Idol, but was infamously disqualified from after scandalous photographs of her leaked.

Davis went on to have a successful career despite her Idol mishap. She's starred on Broadway in Rent and headlined a national tour of Ain't Misbehavin with fellow Idol contestant Ruben Studdard. She also starred on the West Coast production of Dreamgirls. Most recently, Davis competed on The Voice and landed in fifth place.
