‘Homeland’ Adds Miranda Otto, Sarah Sokolovic for Season 5

Showtime has added four new actors as series regulars for the fifth season of “Homeland.” Miranda Otto, Sebastian Koch, Alexander Fehling and Sarah Sokolovic (pictured) are all signing on to play roles opposite Claire Danes, the network announced Monday.

Filming on Season 5 of Showtime’s CIA thriller begins this week in Berlin, with the newcomers joining returning series stars Danes, Rupert Friend, F. Murray Abraham and Mandy Patinkin.

Season 5 will pick up two years after Carrie Mathison’s (Danes) ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the “war on terror,” Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm.

Among the new actors, Koch will play Otto During, a German philanthropist and Danes’ character’s boss. Otto will play Allison Carr, the current Berlin Chief of Station, working directly under Saul Berenson (Patinkin). Sokolovic is Laura Sutton, an American journalist working for the During foundation, while Fehling portrays Jonas, legal counsel for the Düring Foundation and Carrie’s boyfriend.

The 12-episode fifth season of “Homeland” will premiere in the fall on Showtime.

Sokolovic is a well-respected theater actress who can currently be seen in Amy Berg‘s thriller “Every Secret Thing.” She’s represented by Innovative Artists and the Lasher Group.
