‘HIMYM’ EP Stephen Lloyd Inks New Overall Deal With 20th TV, Will Join ‘Modern Family’

How I Met Your Mother executive producer Stephen Lloyd has closed a new two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television. Under the pact, Lloyd will continue as executive producer on the upcoming final season of the studio’s CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, on which he has been since Season 1, and will join another 20th comedy series the following season, ABC’s Modern Family. HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas “rely on Stephen tremendously, and we couldn’t imagine not having him on the show for its pivotal final season,” 20th TV chairman Gary Newman said. “It also speaks to how much we value Stephen that he’ll go straight from there to our incredibly important Modern Family the following year. He’s a hugely versatile writer who delivers both laugh-out-loud comedy and enormous heart, and every showrunner wants him on their team.” On Modern Family, Lloyd will reunite with the series’ co-creator/executive producer Steven Levitan and of course Lloyd’s brother, Modern Family co-creator/exec producer Christopher Lloyd. Before joining HIMYM, Lloyd worked on a number of Levitan series including Just Shoot Me!, Greg The Bunny, Oliver Beene and Stacked. UTA-repped Lloyd, who shared in HIMYM‘s 2009 best comedy series Emmy nomination, had an overall at 20th before joining HIMYM in 2006 and has been under an overall deal at the studio for the past two years.
