HBO's Buzzy Girls and Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Veep Get Free Showcases

HBO will be making available for free the pilot episodes of Girls and Veep, its two new comedies premiering this month.

Both Girls (which premieres this Sunday at 10:30 pm) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Veep (bowing Sunday, April 22, at 10 pm) will be available to non-subscribers via HBO.com, YouTube and multiple distributors’ On Demand platforms for four weeks starting the day after their cable debut.

Girls, which is already garnering many positive notices (e.g. see reviews at HuffPo, HitFix and The Daily Beast), offers a serio-comic look at the humiliations and rare triumphs experienced by of a group of NYC gal pals in their early 20s, played by series creator Lena Dunham (Tiny Furniture), Jemima Kirke (Tiny Furniture), Allison Williams (American Dreams) and Zosia Mamet (Mad Men).

Veep meanwhile stars two-time Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfeld, Old Christine) as Selina Meyer, a hot-shot senator who seemed on track for the Oval Office but instead has to settle for being “just” the vice president of the United States. The Veep pilot will also be available free of charge on iTunes during the sampling period.
