Grey's Anatomy Scoop: Can the Plane Crash Survivors Save Seattle Grace?

The plane crash survivors on Grey's Anatomy may want to use their settlement money to save Seattle Grace from bankruptcy, but it may not be an easy thing to accomplish.

Callie (Sara Ramirez) first pitched the idea when she learned that the hospital could be bought by Pegasus Horizons, a company that values the quantity of patients seen over the quality of their treatment. "They don't feel good about taking the settlement money," Patrick Dempsey tells TVGuide.com. "Callie [wants] them... to give the money back and to possibly buy the hospital. They look into it and realize they don't have enough money and need to find some outside capital."

But there's an even more basic problem: Not all of the doctors are so keen on the idea. "There are a lot of conversations about it," Ramirez says. "Sometimes it gets heated and personal with the struggle. ... It's emotional for everyone. There are times... when the group goes head-to-head about certain issues."

In particular, the idea of giving up $15 million rubs Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) the wrong way, considering that, with her injuries, she feels the most justified in accepting the money. "Arizona's opinion at the beginning of this is that this should not happen," Capshaw says. "They are not equipped, nor should they be the people to buy a hospital. As far as the money goes, that's something that was earned ... to make up for what she has to deal with on a daily basis."

That belief will put her in direct conflict with Derek, who Arizona believes is leading the charge to buy the hospital out of guilt for accepting the money when he's already back at work with a functional hand. "I don't know if he's got that much guilt about it, but he knows this is the right thing to do," Dempsey insists.

At the risk of tipping their hand, the doctors will be forced to keep everything secret from the rest of Seattle Grace, especially Owen (Kevin McKidd) -- a move that Cristina (Sandra Oh) takes issue with. "Because they're keeping everything in secret, there's a van that they meet in in the breezeway, but it's the only thing parked there, so who knows how secret it is," Capshaw jokes.

Will the survivors be able to stop Pegasus from buying the hospital first? Maybe you can find a clue here.
