CBC Orders 13 Episodes Of Canadian Comedy ‘Schitt’s Creek’
CBC has picked up 13 episodes of Schitt’s Creek, a Canadian comedy from Not a Real Company Productions. Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Chris Elliott and Dan Levy are set to star in the half-hour series. When a video store billionaire (Eugene Levy), his soap star wife (O’Hara), their über hipster son (Dan Levy) and socialite daughter suddenly find themselves broke, they are forced to leave their pampered lives to regroup and rebuild their empire from within the rural city limits of their only remaining asset: Schitt’s Creek, an armpit of a town they once bought as a joke. Eugene Levy, Dan Levy, Fred Levy, Andrew Barnsley, and Anonymous Content’s Ben Feigin serving as Executive Producers. An airdate has not been set.

Twentieth TV Distribution Names Matthew Robinson SVP
Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution has tapped Matthew Robinson as SVP International Television. Based in the Los Angeles office, Robinson will report to International TV President Marion Edwards and will work with her in all aspects of the studio’s network and basic pay television businesses. In addition to sales strategic planning, he also will be involved in content and ad supported on demand licensing, as well as the expanding global format licensing business. Robinson’s resume includes a 17-year stint at Warner Bros International Television and four years with Disney’s International Television group in London.

MIPTV Keynoters: StudioCanal’s Olivier Courson, Tandem’s Rola Bauer
StudioCanal Chairman and CEO Olivier Courson and Tandem Communications President Rola Bauer will present a joint keynote address titled “Tandem/StudioCanal: European Sensability – Global Appeal” on April 8 at MIPTV. The speech will highlight the companies’ international productions and announcements of new productions for primetime programming worldwide. In addition, the keynote will cover how they are optimizing synergies and opportunities within StudioCanal. MIPTV runs April 7-10 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.

‘Keeping The Nation Alive’ Format Headed To Netherlands
ITV Studios Global Entertainment has signed a format deal for The Garden’s medical observational docu-series Keeping The Nation Alive in The Netherlands. The EO has commissioned Keeping The Netherlands Alive, a five-episode hourlong series to be produced by iCare Productions, to air this year on Ned 1. Alive provides a behind-the-scenes snapshot of 24 hours in a country’s healthcare system, featuring the individual viewpoints of staff and patients.

London Film Festival Sets Dates For 2014 Edition
The BFI London Film Festival said today that its 58th edition will run October 8-19 at venues throughout the city. Submissions also opened today, with a deadline of July 13 for shorts and July 20 for features. Entries can be made here. Last year’s London fest, which was bookended by Tom Hanks starrers Captain Phillips and Saving Mr. Banks, screened 235 fiction and documentary features from 74 countries and drew more than 150,000 moviegoers.
