London Film Fest Dates Set
The British Film Institute has set the dates for this year’s London Film Festival. The 57th go-around will take place from October 9-20 this year, head of exhibition and festival director Clare Stewart announced. Last year’s festival saw banner local and international premieres for the likes of Frankenweenie, Great Expectations, Argo, Amour, Beasts Of The Southern Wild and Silver Linings Playbook. ITV Licenses Additional Deals For ‘The Audience’
ITV Studios and ITV Studios Global Entertainment have signed new deals for The Audience, created by indie The Garden originally for Channel 4 in the UK. ITV Studios Nordic will produce 8 x 45-minute episodes for Viasat’s TV 3 in Norway, while ITV Studios Global Entertainment has secured a deal in Hungary, where Paprika Latino will produce 6 hourlong episodes for Viasat 3. ITVS GE represents the format internationally for The Garden. The Audience is from the creators of One Born Every Minute and the producers of 24 Hours in A&E at The Garden. In each episode, the show introduces someone with a life-changing decision to make who opens up their lives to The Audience – 50 ordinary people who follow them for a week and draw on their collective life experience to solve the person’s problem. In addition to a deal in Denmark produced by Blu for DR1, the show also has been produced in France for TF1 by ITV Studios France; in the Netherlands by Vorst Media for RTL4; and in Canada where Force Four will produce 6 hours for the W Network.

Sony TV Names New SVP, International Strategy & Development
Carrie Ferman has been appointed Sony Pictures TV’s senior vice president, business strategy and development. Ferman will support Sony TV’s international productions and its 18 production companies in growing the company’s business. Based in London, Ferman will report to Andrea Wong, president, international production. Ferman most recently served as CEO for Remark Media in New York. She previously was vice president at NBC Universal, where she oversaw business development and strategy initiatives across the company’s local media division. Prior to that she held planning and analysis roles at Time Warner, Cap Gemini and Disney.

‘Mark Of The Devil’ Director Michael Armstrong To Film ‘Orphanage’
After years of rumours and fan speculation, cult horror movie legend Michael Armstrong has been recruited out of retirement by Paper Dragon Productions to direct his first major feature in more than 40 years. Following his 1970 genre classic, Mark Of The Devil, Armstrong is to direct his own screenplay Orphanage. Described as a sociological suspense shocker, the project is heading into development immediately. Orphanage will be produced by Paul Horsfield and Jonathan Jones, with Neil Jackson and Kevin James executive producing for Paper Dragon.
