General Hospital, Today Top Daytime Emmys

General Hospital won big at the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, walking away with five trophies, including best drama series.

ABC's last remaining soap also won for best drama directing team, best actor for Anthony Geary (his record seventh win), best supporting actress for Nancy Lee Grahn and best supporting actor for longtime fan favorite Jonathan Jackson. Jackson left the series after eight years to star on ABC's upcoming primetime drama, Nashville.

The Bold and the Beautiful's Heather Tom won best lead actress. Days of Our Lives was honored with best writing just months after the NBC series underwent a major shake-up in the writers' room. Days' Chandler Massey was named best younger actor. Christel Khalil of The Young and the Restless won best younger actress.

Although canceled ABC soaps One Life to Live and All My Children walked away empty-handed, the recently axed were honored at the event, held Saturday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

Is NBC replacing Ann Curry on Today?

Despite its recent ratings loss and the controversy surrounding the future of co-anchor Ann Curry, Today beat Good Morning America as outstanding morning show program. Live with Regis and Kelly and The Dr. Oz Show won best entertainment talk show and best informative talk show, respectively.
