"Game of Thrones" kicks off its Season 3 premiere opposite the season finale of AMC's "The Walking Dead" on Sunday night at 9 PM, but the producers behind the HBO hit are OK with that.

"I think once upon a time that kind of situation would have been a nightmare train wreck that both sides would have really, really wanted to avoid," executive producer D.B. Weiss said on Wednesday in response to a question from , while on a conference call (alongside fellow EP David Benioff) with reporters.

"But, I think the way people watch television now is so different," he continued. "The fact is, I don't think there's a single person in the world who wants to see both shows who is not going to see both shows. So whether they watch us at 9 and them at 10 or the other way around, or them on Sunday and us on Monday, or the other way around, by the time you get to the end of the week, I feel it will all have washed out."

"The Walking Dead" has captured the imaginations of around 11 million viewers each week, and the highest percentage of drama watchers in the coveted 18-49 demo (5.4 million last week). HBO has said - in the past -- an average of 10.3 million watched "Game of Thrones" across its various platforms including the network itself, on-demand and HBO GO.

Benioff believes there is a crossover in viewership between the two programs.

"I don't think it's an ideal situation, because, you know, they're a great show and they're a big show and we [share] obviously, I imagine, a large number of our fans," he said. "But it's nothing we're all that worried about in the grand scheme of things."
