Less than two months after Sons of Anarchy aired its Season 4 finale, FX has already ordered a sixth season of the biker drama, TVGuide.com has confirmed. The network renewed the show for a fifth season back in October.

The sixth-season renewal, which was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, is part of a three-year overall deal between Sons creator Kurt Sutter and 20th Century Fox TV and FX Productions. That pact calls for him to also develop new series projects for both broadcast and cable.

Sons of Anarchy boss on Season 4 finale: Clay suffered a "fate worse than death"

According to THR, Sutter still envisions ending the show in seven seasons — maybe. "There's a part of me that does see being able to tell this story in seven seasons, but there's a part of me that doesn't want to say, 'That's it,'" he said. "I almost feel like when you hang that kind of finality and put a period on something, there's almost a backlash that happens with the fan base."

The Season 4 finale left the SAMCRO motorcycle club in disarray: Jax (Charlie Hunnam) took over the club and decided not to kill Clay (Ron Perlman). (Get the scoop on Season 5 here.)
