Fuse Adds Three Unscripted Shows, Renews ‘Warped Roadies’
Fuse has ramped up its original programming with the addition of three hip hop-focused original series, and the renewal of “Warped Roadies” for a second season.
The new season of “Roadies” will offer a behind-the-scenes look at this year’s Vans Warped Tour and is produced by Magilla Entertainment with Matthew Ostrom, Brian Flanagan and Laura Palumbo Johnson exec producing. Stacey Angeles and Brent Burnette are co-exec producers. Unscripted skein will begin lensing this month in conjunction with the start of the Tour.
On the new series front, “Insane Clown Posse Theater” derives from a Fuse.tv digital series featuring hip hop group Insane Clown Posse, with the pair — Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope — commenting on today’s top music vids. Now a weekly, halfhour show on cable television, “Insane Clown Posse Theater” will be produced by Fuse and is slated to launch on July 24.
Docuseries “G-Thing” centers on Italian-American rapper G-Fella and his larger-than-life family as they try to launch a “family style” run record label. Reality show is exec produced by Fuse and Paulina Williams and will also bow on July 24.
Finally, “Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce” explores the underground world of the New Orleans hip hop scene and centers on local personality Big Freedia and fellow artists as they try to break into the music biz. Series is produced by World of Wonder, and exec produced by Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato and Tom Campbell. “Big Freedia” will premiere on September 18.
Both “G-Thing” and “Big Freedia” received eight-episode orders from the cabler.
“There are infinite stories to be told and dynamic characters to be found in the world of music,” said Mike Bair, president of MSG Media, which owns Fuse. “We’re thrilled to bring back a fan favorite, along with three new series that will build on our foundation of in-house and third party productions, further delivering on our mission to carve out a true home for music programming on cable television.”
