Fred Willard Tells Jimmy Fallon He Was Watching 'Get Shorty' During Lewd Conduct Arrest (Video)

Fred Willard made light of his recent arrest for lewd conduct on Thursday's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," insisting he did nothing wrong, but telling the host that he was "trying to laugh it off."

"It's the last time I'm going to listen to my wife when she says, 'why don't you go out and see a movie,'" Willard said.

Fallon ribbed the actor, asking if he had been watching "Anaconda" when he was nabbed by "the fuzz," to which Willard replied that the film in question had been "Get Shorty."

It wasn't all penis jokes and double entendres, as the "Best in Show" star did admit that it was a painful time for him and his family.

"It's very embarrassing. It's as embarrassing as hell," Willard said. "But let me say this: Nothing happened. I did nothing wrong. Everything is being sorted out as we speak."

The public relations nightmare kicked off last week, when Willard was arrested after police on a routine inspection of an adult theater in Hollywood allegedly found him engaging in a lewd act.

After reports broke, he was fired by PBS as host of the series "Market Warriors." The legal punishment for Willard's offense is far less severe than the public embarrassment, however. The L.A. City Attorney's Office said last week that the actor can avoid charges if he completes a diversion program for $380.

Willard said that he was surprised there were still adult movie theaters around anymore and told Fallon that he was drawn in by the theater's Polynesian-themed exterior.

"It's an interesting theater, a boring movie and a great place to take a nap," Willard said to sum up the whole experience.
