Comedian Fred Willard seems to have no problem laughing off his recent lewd conduct arrest.

During an interview on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,Willard's first television appearance since the incident at a Hollywood adult movie theater, the 78-year-old actore was all jokes. "You know, let me say this: It's the last time I'm going to listen to my wife when she says, 'Why don't you go out and see a movie?'" Willard said.

He went on to describe his initial intrigue when he stumbled upon the theater: "I thought maybe there's hula dancers in there. Maybe there's Mai Tais!" Of course, the reality was far from the exotic escape Willard imagined. "I was the only one awake and sober and conscious" he noted.

Fred Willard offered alternative option after arrest

Host Jimmy Fallon seemed just as eager as Willard to make light of the situation, asking if the actor had gone to see The Firm, Free Willy and Anaconda.

"No," Willard responded, "Sadly, it was Get Shorty."

"At the end of that movie, someone gets whacked," Fallon gleefully quipped.

PBS on Firing Fred Willard: "It Would Become a Distraction"

After the amusingly self-deprecating back-and-forth, Willard, who lost his job on PBS due to the arrest, did take a moment to defend himself.

"It's very embarrassing," he admitted. "It's embarrassing as hell. But let me say this: nothing happened. I did nothing wrong. Everything is being sorted out as we speak. ... If you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, everything looks suspicious."
