FNC’s ‘The Real Story With Gretchen Carlson’ Details Unveiled

Fox News Channel has finally unveiled details of Gretchen Carlson’s new program. Carson’s new one-hour daytime program, The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson will launch on Monday at 2 PM/ET. Preceding that program at 1PM ET: a one-hour weekday presentation of America’s News HQ, co-anchored by Bill Hemmer and Alisyn Camerota. The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson will focus on all current events from general news and crime to politics and investigative reports, the network said.

Carlson recently left the network’s popular morning program Fox & Friends; she was replaced by Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Carlson will interview newsmakers and lead in-depth panel debates, lending viewers context and perspective on the headlines of the day. The program will also utilize social media to explore trending news stories and enlist viewer feedback.

Carlson joined FNC in June 2005 and most recently served as co-host of FOX & Friends. During her tenure at the network, she has reported on major stories and contributed to coverage of the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. Her wide-ranging interviews include then-Senator Barack Obama, then-Senator Hillary Clinton, former First Lady Laura Bush, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and actress Eva Longoria, among others.

Carlson added, “I am thrilled that Roger Ailes has given me the opportunity to host a signature show for Fox that will focus on the real stories of the day. From in-depth interviews to social media interaction live during the show, I look forward to joining viewers in the afternoon for smart and straight-forward talk. Plus, I now get to have breakfast with my kids and maybe even drive them to school! How great is that?”

Prior to FNC, Carlson served as a correspondent and co-anchor of CBS News’ Saturday Early Show as well as an anchor and reporter in several local markets. The recipient of the prestigious American Women in Radio and Television “Best Series” award for her 30-part series on domestic violence, Carlson has won two Emmys for her work at CBS News. Before embarking on a television career, she was the first classical violinist to be crowned Miss America in 1989.
