‘The Flash’s New Costume: First Look At The CW Superhero’s Season 2 Threads

Looks like both of the CW’s headliner superheroes will have new looks next season. Just over a week after the new Arrow costume was unveiled at Comic-Con, we now have a peek at the new threads for The Flash‘s Grant Gustin:

Maya Mani designed the new outfit for Season 2 of The Flash, which hits the track on October 6. The costume designer also was behind the new Season 4 look for Arrow, which Stephen Amell showed off in front of a packed Hall H on July 11. Add to that, Mani also is tackling costume design duties on The CW’s new WBTV superhero series Legends Of Tomorrow.

While the costume ultimately has only minor differences from the Season 1 suit, the most important change confirms something the show’s producers — most notably Greg Berlanti, have been saying for some time: that the show will be getting more comic book in its sensibilities as it goes on. Last season, the Flash logo on the front of his costume featured a yellow lightning bolt against a red background. The new suit is much closer to the iconic DC Comics version, a vibrant red bolt against a white background. Things are speeding up for young Barry Allen.
