Finale Ratings: Grey's Hits 19-Week High, Scandal at All-Time High, CBS Dramas Steady

Grey’s Anatomy wrapped its eighth season with an audience of 11.2 million total viewers and a 3.9 demo rating, rising 14 and 11 percent to hit 19- and 14-week highs. Versus last year’s finale, Grey’s was up 13 and 8 percent.

That teed up the freshman drama Scandal for all-time highs of 7.5 mil/2.4 (up 17 and 26 percent).

Leading off ABC’s night, the Missing series finale drew 6.5 mil and a 1.3, up 18 percent in the demo.

Of Thursday’s other drama finales, Person of Interest (13.3 mil/2.5) led the 9 o’clock hour in total viewers but slipped a tenth in the demo week-to-week, and The Mentalist (13 mil/2.5) upticked a few percentage points, winning 10 pm on both counts.

On the comedy side, Community‘s triple-header averaged 2.7 mil and a 1.3, matching its all-time low demo rating; Rules of Engagement‘s possibly series finale (7.3 mil/2.1) dropped 17 and 22 percent out of a Big Bang repeat; and 30 Rock (2.9 mil/1.3) was down 13 percent in the demo.

Elsewhere, American Idol‘s penultimate Season 11 results show (15.9 mil/4.2) hit seven- and five-week highs for a Thursday telecast, Touch (6.3 mil/1.8) dipped some and the penultimate Awake (2.1 mil/0.7) tied series lows.
