Endemol Names Fotini Paraskakis Managing Director of Asia
Endemol North America Promotes Four in Executive Shuffle
Independent TV production powerhouse Endemol said Monday that it has appointed Fotini Paraskakis as managing director of its Asian operations.
As new MD of Asia, Fotini will oversee Endemol’s day-to-day creative, production and format sales activities across Asia, including the company’s joint venture with Astro in Malaysia.
She will report to Endemol’s CEO of Asian Operations, Arjen van Mierlo, who will increasingly focus on growth and expansion opportunities for Endemol in the region, the company said in a statement.
Fotnini most recently worked for FremantleMedia Asia, where she was director of content, responsible for managing creative, production and content for the company's regional formats, such as Idols, Got Talent and X Factor. She also oversaw the company's first live Asia-spanning Idol contest, which reached 250 million households.
Mierlo said: “Having someone of Fotini’s caliber helping to lead our business in Asia places us in a strong position to pursue further growth here. She has an extraordinary wealth of experience and will be a valuable asset to our operations across the region.“
Endemol’s most recent activities in Asia include a first season of Fear Factor and a second season of popular game show The Money Drop – both for Astro in Malaysia; Your Face Sounds Familiar from China Edemol; Deal or No Deal on ABS-CBN in the Philippines; and Step Right Up on Thailand’s Channel 9.
Fotini said Endemol has “great prospects for further growth in Asia.” She added: “The industry here is hungry for ideas and Endemol’s shows have already proven to be enormously popular with audiences throughout the region.“
Fotnini’s appointment is just the latest in a string of recent leadership shakeups at Endemol. In mid-January Endemol Group COO Virginie Calmels stepped down for undisclosed reasons. Later in the month the company named Martha Brass its new COO and Edwin van Es CFO. And in the week following, Endemol revamped its leadership structure replacing its Endemol Worldwide Brands (EWB) division structure with a group commercial board made up of senior executives from across the company.
