Emmys 2012: Who Should Win Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series? Take Our Poll!

Of the six women competing in the 2012 race for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, only one is having her first tango with Emmy this year.

Loretta Devine won this award in 2011 for her work on Grey’s Anatomy, and is hoping to make it back-to-back victories.

Both Jean Smart (nominated for Harry’s Law) and Julia Ormond (Mad Men ) are prior Emmy winners as well. The former actress took home the trophy as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2000 and 2001 for Frasier, as well as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Samantha Who? in 2008; the latter won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for Temple Grandin in 2010.

And while Joan Cusack (Shameless) and Martha Plimpton (The Good Wife ) have never won Emmys, they are both prior nominees. Cusack was in the 2011 Guest Actress race (also for Shameless), while Plimpton was nominated in 2002 (for a guest spot on Law & Order: SVU) and 2011 (as Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Raising Hope).

That leaves Smash‘s Uma Thurman as the sole first-time Emmy nominee in the group.
