A Dwight Howard TV Show? Lakers Contract Might Only Be the Beginning
Time Warner Cable Sports Net has, according to ESPNLosAngeles.com, reportedly discussed giving free agent NBA center Dwight Howard his own TV show if he re-signs with the Los Angeles Lakers.
This raises many questions, including what it would be called (“Laker Wobegon Days?”) but most notably: “Why stop there?”
After all, TWCSN and its Spanish-language counterpart each have the better part of 24 hours a day to devote to the Lakers, so finding a spot for a show dedicated to the seven-time NBA All-Star — would seem to be the least of their worries. Tonight, for example, TWCSN is airing reruns of a 2012 high school football game and an NBA Developmental League game between the Santa Cruz Warriors and the L.A. D-Fenders.
Under the circumstances, is there any Laker who shouldn’t have his own show? Frankly, a program dedicated not merely to Kobe Bryant, but Byrant’s Achilles surgery (“Tendon Mercies”), would offer higher ratings potential than almost any other summertime content a network could offer, sports or otherwise.
So, yeah, Dwight, you want a show? Take it. Honestly, I can’t even find a reason for “The Magic Hour” not to attempt a comeback.
Well, maybe there’s a reason.
But just think: If the Los Angeles Dodgers’ proposed TV network had already launched, “Puigmalion” could already be a primetime centerpiece.
