'Duck Dynasty' Stars Launch Gun Line (Video)
The Duck Dynasty clan has launched its own line of guns.
The Robertson family's company, Duck Commander, has teamed up with gunmaker Mossberg to launch a line that includes nine shotguns, two semiautomatic rifles and a semiautomatic pistol. A Mossberg spokeswoman told CNN that the company has already begun shipping some of the shotguns to distributors.
The guns will feature a "waterfowl pattern" camouflage design and include the Duck Commander logo. They also will come with an American flag bandana similar to the one that Willie Robertson wears. (Watch one of the ads below.)
Duck Dynasty already has a huge merchandising component, with everything from pajamas and costumes to bandages and even an $899.95 camouflage recliner. (Duck Commander, which the Robertsons owned before becoming reality stars, features duck calls and hunting gear.)
The news comes following the controversy surrounding anti-gay remarks made by Willie's father, Phil, who also stars on A&E's reality show.
"It seems like, to me, a vagina -- as a man -- would be more desirable than a man's anus," he told GQ magazine. "That's just me. I'm just thinking: There's more there! She's got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I'm saying? But hey, sin: It's not logical, my man. It's just not logical."
Groups including GLAAD and the Human Rights Campaign slammed his remarks, while others, including Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh, defended his right to free speech.
A&E briefly suspended Phil from filming the show, which returns with new episodes Jan. 15.
On New Year's Eve, Willie and his wife, Korie, appeared on Fox News, where he said of the controversy: "We're ready to move on. I think we all learned a lot, and we're just ready to move on, and the family's happy and ready to go."
