‘Duck Dynasty’ Christmas Special Hauls in 8.9 Million Viewers

The bearded Robertson clan of ‘Duck Dynasty’ had a very merry (and hairy) Christmas special on Wednesday night, with 8.9 million total viewers tuning in to watch the festivities.

The one-hour A&E special improved 37 percent in total viewership compared to last year’s holiday special.

In the advertiser-preferred 18-49 demographic, the “Duck Dynasty” Christmas special pulled in 4.5 million viewers, a 15 percent boost over last year’s special.

The most recent fourth season of the A&E hit premiered in August with a whopping 11.8 million total viewers — the #1 nonfiction series telecast in cable history.

The fifth season of the series, which premieres Jan. 15, will introduce new cast members, including Rebecca, the stepdaughter of Willie and Korie Robertson, who returns from attending college in Los Angeles and attempts to adjust to life in Monroe, Louisiana.
