Daniel Radcliffe, Jude Law and Judi Dench Sign on for Michael Grandage-Produced Plays
"Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe, Jude Law and Judi Dench are taking to the boards in a series of plays to be directed by Michael Grandage in the 2013-2014 season.
The plays will be presented at the Noel Coward Theatre in London, as part of a run of five shows that the Michael Grandage Company will produce.
Dench will star in "Peter and Alice," a new play by John Logan, as Alice Liddell Hargreaves, the inspiration behind the Lewis Carroll "Alice in Wonderland." The play will explore her meeting with Peter Llewelyn Davies, the inspiration for the character Peter Pan, at a 1932 Lewis Carroll exhibition.
"In John Logan's remarkable new play, enchantment and reality collide as this brief encounter lays bare the lives of these two extraordinary characters,"Grandage's company said of "Peter and Alice," which also stars Ben Whishaw. The play runs from March 9 to June 1, 2013.
Radcliffe, meanwhile, will star in Martin McDonagh's coming-of-age comedy "The Cripple of Inishmaan," playing the title role of Cripple Billy, an orphan who enlists a small community of Islanders to help him move from his remote hometown to Hollywood. The play will run from June 8 to August 31, 2013.
Finally, Law will take on Shakespeare's "Henry V," continuing a collaboration with Grandage that began with a 2009 production of "Hamlet." The production of "Henry V" will run from Nov. 23, 2013 to Feb. 15, 2014.
The quintet of plays is fleshed out by Peter Nichols' "Privates on Parade" and Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
Tony Award-winning Grandage stepped down from his position as Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse last year.
