It was “Hollywood Night” on Week 3 of Dancing With the Stars, which meant a glittering array of dance-infused tributes to Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly and the Lone Ranger (say what?) from Season 17’s cavalcade of stars.

Let’s high-kick right to the highlights:

DANCE OF THE NIGHT: Though this season could already be called Dancing With the Walking Wounded – evidenced by dire early-in-the-show medical updates from poor Brant Daugherty (sprained foot), Bill Nye (torn quadricep) and Tyne Stecklein (tweaked knee) – there were nevertheless several “wow” moments, including Christina Milian and Mark Ballas’ joyful, energetic Charleston. That said, the most sensational dance of the night was definitely…

Brant Daugherty & Peta Murgatroyd: How does one dazzle America with the Quick Step despite a painful foot injury? After ‘fessing up to a string of recent woes – which included losing his phone and being robbed at gunpoint (yikes!) – Brant turned into what Len Goodman called “the no-stress express” and stunned with his fancy footwork (“perfection” according to Bruno Tonioli), and great musicality (echoes of Neil Patrick Harris, according to judge Carrie Ann Inaba). “Maybe it was a little bit painful to dance, but I tell you it was painless to watch,” gushed Len. Is it any surprise his scores — a string of 9’s – topped the night?

RUNNERS-UP: Valerie Harper & Tristan MacManus: OK, Valerie often forgot the steps and kinda walked through most of their Cha Cha Cha, but how can you not light up during a killer song (Mika’s “Grace Kelly”) with everyone’s beloved Rhoda dressed like the legendary Princess Grace herself, all while Tristan rocked a very convincing Freddie Mercury mustache? A deservedly low score (16) couldn’t diminish this dance’s high-flying spirit.

And now for the moment of truth, tonight’s results:

FINAL THREE COUPLES LEFT “IN JEOPARDY”
Christina Milian & Mark Ballas
Brant Daugherty & Peta Murgatroyd
Bill Nye & Tyne Stecklein

FINAL TWO COUPLES LEFT “IN JEOPARDY”
Christina Milian & Mark Ballas
Bill Nye & Tyne Stecklein

ELIMINATED
Bill Nye & Tyne Stecklein

“What breaks my heart is Tyne’s not going to stay on, she’s fantastic,” said a gracious Nye, before bidding his very vocal fans adieu. “Thanks for keeping me in this long…it’s really been cool, it’s been a great experience.”

And with that, it’s your turn. Which couple should have really gone home tonight? Was it crazy to see two of tonight’s top-scoring dancers already in jeopardy? Was Nicole really Marilyn Monroe (as she said in her pre-dance interview) in another lifetime? Should DWTS employ its own in-house physician? Sound off in the comments!
