CW Slots Midseason Premieres of ‘Star-Crossed’ and ‘The 100′
The CW, looking to build off its momentum from the fall while increasing the number of original hours it airs in the back half of the season, revealed its aggressive midseason plans on Thursday, including the debut of two dramas, timeslot shifts for a pair of others and the return of an unscripted fave.
“Star -Crossed,” the futuristic story of an alien/human romance, kicks off the net’s second-half plans for the season, airing Mondays at 8 p.m. starting Feb. 17.
“Star-Crossed” (pictured) will replace third-year drama “Hart of Dixie,” which will finish out its season on Fridays at 9 starting March 21. That’s the same night that comedy/improv series “Whose Line Is It Anyway,” a success in its premiere on the net this summer, returns with a pair of original episodes.
One week later, “Whose Line” will begin its regular air pattern of an original followed by an encore from its summer run.
“Whose Line” and “Hart of Dixie” should be able to provide a nice ratings bounce for the net on a night where it has seen modest results this fall with “The Carrie Diaries,” “America’s Next Top Model” and “Nikita.”
CW is also looking to give another new show, post-apocalyptic adventure drama “The 100,” a shot behind its hot second-year drama “Arrow,” with the dramas airing back-to-back starting March 19. To make room for “The 100,” the net is sending rookie drama “The Tomorrow People” to Mondays starting March 17, where it will follow “Star-Crossed.”
“Beauty and the Beast,” which has been airing Mondays at 9 p.m., will go on hiatus following its March 10 episode and return with original episodes at a date to be announced.
