CW Fall Lineup: New 'Reign' Gets Post-'Vampire' Slot, 'Carrie' Moves to Friday
The CW announced Thursday that "Reign," the new drama about Mary, Queen of Scots, will get the coveted timeslot after "The Vampire Diaries," and that sophomore series "The Carrie Diaries" will move to Fridays. It said the final season of "Nikita" will be six episodes, but did not give an airdate.
It also said it would split up its vampire shows by airing the "Vampire Diaries" spinoff, "The Originals," on Tuesdays.

The network, which is aimed at viewers 18-34, also said three shows would air in midseason: the new alien "Romeo and Juliet" drama "Star-Crossed," the post-apocalyptic drama, "The 100," and "Famous in 12," an unscripted show about a family searching for fame in Hollywood within 12 weeks.
After renewing all of its series and picking up five new dramas, The CW unveiled its 2013-2014 lineup ahead of its upfront presentation for advertisers on Thursday in New York City. It said it would begin its season in October. That will help it stand out ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC, which start a month earlier.

The network is going for romance on Mondays, when it pairs the returning "Hart of Dixie" and "Beauty and the Beast."
"The Originals," which had the benefit of having its main characters appear on three seasons of "Vampire Diaries" (including a backdoor pilot during the current season) will air Tuesdays and will be followed by "Supernatural." The new night for the enduring "Supernatural" is a gesture of confidence that its loyal audience will follow it.
On Wednesdays, the network will follow "Arrow," last season's biggest new CW show, with the new "The Tomorrow People," about young people with paranormal powers. It comes from producers of three other CW shows: Greg Berlanti ("Arrow"), Julie Plec ("The Vampire Diaries"), and Danny Cannon ("Nikita").
Thursdays will join "Vampire Diares," the CW's biggest hit, with the new "Reign," about a teenage girl (Adelaide Kane), who became queen of Scotland when she was six days old.
On Fridays, "The Carrie Diaries," which debuted in midseason to buzz but not ratings, will move to a new night, where it will be paired with the similarly fashion-focused "America's Next Top Model."
