It seems Paget Brewster can't stay away from a crime scene. The actress, who played Emily Prentiss on Criminal Minds for six seasons before leaving the show earlier this year, will guest-star on the season premiere of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NBC announced Wednesday.

The actress will appear as the head of the Public Integrity Unit in the District Attorney's office. Her character will be assigned to the case against Dann Florek's Capt. Cragen, who is suspected of murder after last season's shocking finale, in which Cragen woke up with a dead prostitute in his bed.

The episode will also bring back Laura Benanti, Pippa Black, Peter Jacobson, Ron Rifkin, Brooke Smith, and Dean Winters, all of whom appeared in last year's finale.

Besides her work on Criminal Minds, Brewster, 43, has also appeared on Showtime's Huff as well as comedies including Andy Richter Controls the Universe and Friends. Brewster told TVGuide.com earlier this year that she'd like to return to doing more funny work. "I love comedy. It's so much fun — not that [Minds] isn't — but it's just different," she said. "I would love to do another one in the future."

The two-hour SVU premiere is set to air on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 9/8c — against Criminal Minds, coincidentally.
